How did you get to WVPY? My dear friend, Jeenie Balkin’s invited me to do yoga with her one cold October morning at 5:30 am, I thought, “this is crazy!?” Arriving at Melinda’s loft, experiencing the physicality, and warmth of the unique flow of Baptiste yoga, and that COLD washcloth at the end of practice with essential oils...sealed the deal...I was hooked. So, when the ladies of WVPY opened their studio, I was there!
What makes you laugh the most? Comedy that is clever and finds the dark and sometimes contradictory ways in which we live our lives and reveals such things with humor and a little self deprecation. My husband. He’s a goofball and I love that!!
What is your guilty pleasure? Nut cake donuts!!
What are 3 things you’d take on a deserted island? Chapstick, running shoes, and a book of Mary Oliver Poems.
When you’re not on your mat where can we find you? Home schooling my girls, running the trails of corvallis, or watching my man surf at the beach.
What is your greatest life lesson/learning so far? Life is fleeting, so say the difficult things so you won’t have regret, show the gratitude you have for those you love, live in the present moments at hand, forgive and find grace and space for the human frailty in yourself and others. Live life on purpose, be up to something bigger than yourself, chase a sunrise, savor the sunsets, and love BIG. It’s worth the risk. All of it.
Why Baptiste Yoga? Heat. Sweat. Strength. Ease. Flow. Mindfulness. Intention. Discovery. Curiosity. Equilibrium. Love.
