Q & A

q: what is baptiste yoga?

A: Our all levels classes are a blend of dynamic yet commonly practiced yoga poses linked by breath to create vinyasa (flow). The studio heated to 90 degrees. Connect breath with movement and tap into your power during this practice based on Baron Baptiste's “Journey into Power” sequence.

q: is yoga for me?

A: Yes! Yoga is for anyone who chooses to practice it; no matter your age, sex, weight, height, or current physical abilities. It is not about being flexible enough to touch your toes, so come just as you are.

q: i’m new to yoga, what should i expect?

A: Welcome! We practice Power Vinyasa Yoga in the style of Baron Baptiste. Classes are generally 75 minutes unless otherwise noted on the schedule. The room is heated to 90 degrees. Though not sweltering upon arrival, you will heat up within the first few minutes of class. Wear moisture-wicking fabrics you can move freely in. During the practice you are invited to challenge yourself, AND also take care of yourself. Drink water throughout and know that rest poses are available to you at any time during the class.

q: how often should i practice yoga?

A: A regular yoga practice will alleviate stress and tension, build your energy levels, create strength and balance, and relieve aches and pains. A practice of 2-3 days per week, if consistent, will create transformation over time. For life-changing results practice 5-6 days per week.

q: is heated yoga hard?

A: You choose the intensity with which you work in each pose and throughout the practice. You can vary your practice by modifying the form and/or mechanics of the pose, the length of time in the pose, or the number of sets/repetition. The goal is to build and maintain physical and spiritual vitality, not push your body till it breaks. No pain/no gain is not part of our practice at WVPY.
